RONDO COMMEMORATIVE PLAZA

Rondo

The Rondo Commemorative Plaza and gardens is an urban pocket park that commemorates the history of Rondo of the community that was displaced during the 1960’s I-94 expansion.  The plaza includes interactive historical displays that provide visual, written and oral information, signage, images, music and art representative of the old Rondo community before the freeway (I-94) erased the memory of these histories. The Plaza will also serve as a social center for gatherings where the children, young adults, and visitors can celebrate and learn about Rondo through conversations and exchanges with older citizens who grew up in Rondo. The park invites people to linger with comfortable seating and a small stage with a sound system to support live lectures and musical performances.
